We are an all volunteer board of Trustees. Our board is comprised of three parts representing the general community, potential and future lessees, and members of the low income housing community. We are committed to preserving affordable housing throughout Thurston County.
Dan Rubin, President
Background: Retired from career in governmental and nonprofit management, policy development, planning, research and inter-organizational collaboration focused on access and equity in health and human services to varied populations. Thurston County resident 42 years. Thirteen years of executive and professional employment and consulting with non-profit organizations. Six years Board membership (five as Board Chair or Co-Chair) in a 5,000 member national non-profit.
Duties: As President and Board Chair, plan and lead meetings of Board of Trustees and membership; assure progress on work program consistent with mission; support others’ leadership; co-lead and support efforts on complex tasks such as development of Bylaws and ground lease; and serve as primary public representative of the Trust.
Susan Davenport, Vice President
Background: Since 1974, a Thurston County citizen participant in community asset building as a strategic task force member, resource developer and educator; adhering to principles of servant leadership. Co-initiator and founding board member of a community land trust, women’s shelter, child abuse prevention program, before and after school child care task force, interfaith association and dispute resolution center. A professional services contractor for non-profit organizational development since 1990.
Duties: Outreach to community groups, newsletter, advocacy, coordination with other like-minded organizations.
Keith Henderson, Lessee Trustee, Financial Officer
Background: Certified Public Accountant. Financial Analyst/Examiner State of Washington, 1998-2014: Research trends and prepare presentations to legislature based on international classifications and federal protocols. Perform cost settlements. MBA-Accounting, CPA, and Certified Financial Examiner. Classroom Teacher Washington State Public Schools, 1986-1999: Conduct classes, administer summer programs including budgeting, case manage drug and alcohol programs, and team teach outdoor adventure based counseling program.
Duties: Analyzing and set-up QuickBooks financial and managerial accounting applications. Resolving accounting and information system issues. Audit manual and automated financial systems. Review financial statements and contracts.
Gail O’Sullivan, Secretary
Background: Founded nonprofit The Commons at Fertile Ground in 2010 and continues on the board presently. Past board member of the Olympia Food Coop, Lincoln Elementary Council, Woman’s Club of Olympia. 22 year Olympia resident, local business owner.
Duties: Recording meeting minutes, organizing shared documents, tracking memberships, correspondence, and general administration.
Paul Knox, a THLT member, is a social entrepreneur with a passion and life-long commitment for creating better communities and connections between people. He has 35 years of leadership experience and innovation in policy, operations and advocacy, and community organizing. He most recently served as executive director of the United Way of Thurston County for eight years enacting collaborative models in private-public funding and collective impact. Prior to that he was the founding executive of the Washington Asset Building Coalition and spent 20 years as a state government leader starting up and directing programs in community and workforce development. Duties: Fundraising, Administration, Networking with the Thurston County Community.
Jerry Bustamante, Trustee
Background: 2014, Bachelor’s Degree in Political Economy and Liberal Arts, The Evergreen State College, Washington State Legislature experience
Duties: Perform nonprofit trustees responsibilities. Sit in on the Outreach and Finance Committee. Help develop outreach strategy and study nonprofit finance issues . Research real estate considerations, and participate in the statewide advocacy committee concerning community land trusts.
Allie Upton, Public Trustee
Background: Housing Director at South Puget Sound Habitat for Humanity, including program operations to prepare and support Habitat's homeowners. Extensive experience working with low-income families and affordable housing. Knowledge of local affordable housing agencies and funding streams
Duties: Leadership in developing partnership with Habitat. Advice and participation in relations with other affordable housing agencies, understanding of funding streams. Advocacy outreach.
Zahid Chaudhry, Public Trustee
Background: Zahid has been a community volunteer and social justice organizer seeking justice and equity all his life. Recent offices held and organizations/constituencies served:

Vice President & Board Director: TV station & Thurston Community Media (Formerly local TV with 4 channels + VOD)
